Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about how SermonFoundry works, what you can do, and how your data is handled.
How does SermonFoundry work?
Enter a Bible passage or sermon topic, and SermonFoundry generates a structured, editable sermon outline grounded in Scripture. You can customize the tradition, audience, and sermon type, then refine each section — big idea, context, outline, illustrations, applications, and closing — until it sounds like you. The final sermon is fully yours to edit, export, or save to your library.
How are scripture references verified?
SermonFoundry checks every scripture reference in your outline against its built-in database of approximately 31,100 Bible verses. References that match the stored text are marked as verified; anything that cannot be confirmed is flagged for review before you preach, not after. This helps you catch hallucinated or misattributed verses upfront.
Do I need an account?
No. You can generate sermons anonymously without creating an account. An account is only required if you want to save sermons to your library for future access, or if you need persistent storage across sessions.
What traditions and denominations does SermonFoundry support?
SermonFoundry is designed to work across a wide range of Christian traditions, including but not limited to:
- Non-denominational
- Baptist
- Methodist
- Presbyterian
- Lutheran
- Anglican/Episcopal
- Pentecostal
- And many others
The AI adapts its language and emphasis based on the tradition you select, but you always have full control to edit and refine the content to match your specific theological context.
Is SermonFoundry free?
SermonFoundry is free to try — start with 3 sermons, no account needed. Pro ($9/mo) and Church ($29/mo) plans are coming soon for unlimited sermons, a saved library, and team features. See plans and join the waitlist.
Can I edit the sermon?
Yes. Every sermon SermonFoundry generates is fully editable. You can modify any section — add your own illustrations, adjust applications, rephrase the outline, or completely rewrite sections. The AI provides a starting point grounded in Scripture, but your voice and judgment shape the final message.
Is my data private?
Yes. Sermons you generate are private to your account. Anonymous sermons are not stored permanently. For detailed information about how we handle your data, please see our privacy policy.
